New Home Bargains store brings 55 jobs and £1M investment to Portlethen

The new Home Bargains store in Portlethen opens in June

HOME Bargains has invested approximately £1m into its new store in Portlethen, near Aberdeen, which will officially open at 8.00am on Saturday 21 June.  

As one of the UK’s largest family-run retailers, Home Bargains is creating 51 new jobs in the local community with its store in Portlethen. In total, the store will employ 55 team members, including some staff and management who will be transferring from local stores.

It will also be donating £2,000 to local school, Portlethen Primary. 

Anne Hingston, chair at Portlethen Primary, said: “Portlethen Primary Together is thrilled to receive this generous donation from Home Bargains. We’ve been working hard on our playground improvement project which aims to upgrade the playground for the benefit of pupils and the wider community. Portlethen School sits at the heart of Portlethen, and this donation will help us improve the space for everyone. Thank you!” 

The new Portlethen store will join over 575 outlets across the UK. Opening approximately 50 stores a year, Home Bargains is bucking current trends in the industry. 

Andrew McAllister, the new store manager, said: “We’re so excited to bring this store to Portlethen and think it will be a real asset to the community. The team has worked incredibly hard to get everything ready, and we cannot wait to welcome all our new customers on Saturday.” 

The 18159 sq. ft store will offer shoppers a range of products, including homewares, health and beauty essentials, sweets, snacks and drinks, as well as fresh and frozen food. 

Store manager Andrew continued: “Portlethen will be a great location for us. We’re proud to offer local people top-branded goods at exceptionally low prices.”
