A NEW home care service will open in Aberdeen, promising 15 new jobs this year, and giving people across the local community more choice and control over their care.

The new Bluebird Care Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire service officially launched on 18th September, serving the city and surrounding areas with companionship care. Over the coming weeks, they will expand their offer to include a wide range of care services including personal care and live-in care.

The service is spearheaded by Minesh Chopra, Owner and Director, and Registered Manager Alicia Laurie. Chopra is a longstanding local, having made Aberdeen his home for over a decade, and forging a successful career in retail leadership in the city, as well as raising thousands of pounds for local charities through several fundraising initiatives while store manager of Aldi.

Speaking about the opening of the new service, whose offices will be based in Waterloo Quay, Chopra said: “It’s never been more important for older people in the community and their families to be given a wide range of options for their essential care. High-quality and consistent care at home can be life changing, and through our service we will be able to help more people gain access to that care.”

Registered Manager of the home care company Alicia Laurie is the first member of the Bluebird Care Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire team, and will oversee the recruitment of up to fifteen members of the team over the coming weeks as the service grows. An Aberdeen local, Alicia has dedicated her career to caring for others and has years of experience across the sector.

When asked about the service, Laurie said: “I am delighted that we are able to offer a new home care service in my hometown Aberdeen and across the Shire. Aberdeen has so much to offer, and we should use local resources and programmes as much as we can, to support each other. That’s why I’m so excited to join Bluebird Care as they embark on a new adventure across Aberdeen and the Shire. We are all different, and so our care should be too – we aren’t a one-size-fits-all service, we will really get to know every customer and their individual circumstances as well as their family to provide personalised care that’s right for them.”
