The first product developed by Oasis Marine Power, based in Cults, is the Oasis Power Buoy – a “pioneering” mooring buoy with electrical power supply initially for installation at offshore wind farms.

Hybrid and electric crew transfer vessels (CTVs) will replenish their batteries in field before returning to port, making them fully viable and non-reliant on fuel.

The buoy harnesses its power directly from the wind turbines, providing a zero-emission energy source, thereby providing a dual function as an offshore mooring and charging point.

The design and build phase is nearing completion with testing due to begin in Spring this year ahead of the launch next year.

George Smith, Oasis Marine Power director, said: “A key feature lies in the simplicity of use and maintenance.

“It is already gathering significant interest from wind farm operators as they look to operate in the cleanest way possible, and this greatly increases their ability to do so.”

This project has been awarded funding from MarRI-UK – an initiative supported by the Department for Transport (DfT) to develop technological innovation that improves UK Maritime services and operations.
