AFBE-UK Scotland, an organisation that encourages greater diversity and inclusion in the energy and engineering sectors, is launching a mentoring programme.

The social enterprise’s latest project, due to be unveiled on Saturday, has been introduced to inspire the next generation of industry professionals and create leaders in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) sectors.

The programme is available to all members of AFBE-UK seeking to develop their careers.

More than 40 students, graduates and professionals have so far signed up for the programme.

The Scotland-based mentoring team for this programme consists of Ibim Diri, an exploration geophysicist, Denis Pinto, managing director and owner of Caledonian Flow Systems and Chudi Okenwa, a production engineer.

Ibim, Aberdeen AFBE-UK Scotland mentoring programme co-ordinator, said: We’re very excited to launch AFBE-UK Scotland’s first formal mentoring programme.

“As someone who has benefitted from mentorship, I understand the long-term impact of an initiative like this.”

The panellists at the launch event are:

  • Kola Akintayo  –  Human Resources & Talent Acquisition Leader, Oceaneering
  • Teresa Waddington  – Asset HSSE Manager at LNG Canada  (OGUK Mentor of the Year 2019)
