INTERNATIONAL law firm Addleshaw Goddard has made another high-profile appointment in Aberdeen with the recruitment of a new Partner to its Corporate and Energy team.
Arran Mackenzie has joined the firm as a Partner from Burness Paull, bringing a track record of more than 15 years doing deals in the global energy hub.

Arran Mackenzie has extensive experience in the onshore and offshore energy sector, and has recently been involved in renewable energy transactions including offshore wind, smart metering, and renewable heat. She has also worked across other sectors including transport, food and drink, and retail.
She has a wide range of corporate and corporate finance experience with a particular focus on M&A and private equity investments – an increasingly important element of the energy transition as new capital fuels the businesses who will drive that transition.

Addleshaw Goddard’s Aberdeen office has enjoyed rapid growth since the firm moved to its current office at Prime Four in 2019, and now has more than 24 people led by four Partners – David McEwing, Ross McKenzie, Fiona Kindness and Arran Mackenzie. The energy team has advised on some of the biggest Scottish deals in recent years as well as being instructed on major transactions in Europe and beyond.
In 2022, the firm reported record results with global revenue up 18% to £377 million and income in Scotland enjoying a fifth consecutive annual double-digit increase. The firm’s Corporate team was also named Legal Advisor of the Year at the Scottish Dealmakers Awards.
In August the firm added Managing Associate Jennifer Cham and Legal Director Gemma Hills to its Corporate team in Aberdeen, which together with the appointments of Fiona Kindness and Arran Mackenzie represent a significant strengthening of the team with a focus on deals in the energy sector.
The office’s corporate and commercial team has enjoyed an exceptionally busy year, extending its client base and advising on local, national and international matters for organisations including BP International, Dana Petroleum, Trojan Energy and Waldorf Energy.
