Private client specialist George Stevenson has joined Shepherd and Wedderburn as a consultant, bringing more than 40 years’ expertise across the spectrum of personal legal and tax matters to the firm and its clients.

George, who specialises in all aspects of estate and inheritance tax planning, including wills, trusts, guardianships, executries and Powers of Attorney, is renowned for his focus on clients and exceptional technical skills.

Legal 500, the independent legal directory, states George “stands out for being attentive and effective” in personal tax, trust and executry work.

Based in Shepherd and Wedderburn’s Aberdeen office, with a north of Scotland remit, George joins a rapidly expanding private client team in the Granite City.

In recent months, the firm has recruited Gillian Campbell as a partner and Head of Private Client in Aberdeen and the north of Scotland, and solicitor Kirsten McKinnon.

George, who was previously a partner and consultant at Stronachs – where he worked with Hamish Lean, now Shepherd and Wedderburn’s Head of Rural Property – will also work closely with the firm’s private client specialists across its UK offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London.

Commenting on his new role with Shepherd and Wedderburn, George said: “I am very excited to join such a prestigious firm, with a long history acting for clients in the UK and internationally. I look forward to assisting Gillian with the continuing development of the private client practice locally and throughout the north of Scotland and working alongside a talented, collegiate team.”

Gillian Campbell said: “Attracting a private client lawyer of George’s stature and experience is a huge win for Shepherd and Wedderburn’s fast-growing private client practice in Aberdeen and the north east.”

Malcolm Rust, Head of Private Client at Shepherd and Wedderburn, said: “We are delighted to welcome a specialist of George’s calibre to our Aberdeen private client team – further demonstrating our sustained investment in Aberdeen and the north of Scotland.

“His experience and technical skills will be of real benefit to our clients, in particular those requiring advice on estate and succession planning and those looking to protect their assets during uncertain economic times.”
