With a shifting energy landscape and a drive to deliver net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 in the UK and 2045 in Scotland, “Energy Of The Future” explores how the industry remains at the forefront of technological development, driving innovation and shaping energy systems and efficiencies for a sustainable future.

Presented by newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky OBE, the programme follows how the industry is adapting to some of the biggest challenges of the 21st Century, from rising demand and energy security, reduced carbon footprint, sustainability and climate change.  Promoting smarter use of technology, unlocking efficiency and developing and diversifying skills for the future are just a few of the ways the industry is evolving to address these challenges.

The programme speaks to the next generation of workers, apprentices and leaders who will tackle these challenges to build an even more globally competitive oil and gas industry in the UK and provides those within the sector the opportunity to tell their story and share their vision.

“Energy Of The Future” was previewed at SPE Offshore Europe’s annual conference on 3rd September 2019. The programme will form part of an extensive communications campaign featuring OGUK’s members and professional partners, as well as journalists, writers and bloggers.

Deirdre Michie OBE, Chief Executive OGUK said: “The UK’s offshore oil and gas industry has a great story to tell both in terms of our legacy in providing secure oil and gas supply, jobs and our contribution to the economy, but also how we are shaping up to be part of the solution as we look to help deliver a net zero future.
