New subsea integrity appointments strengthen operator experience at Xodus Group

International energy consultancy Xodus Group has appointed two principal consultants to its subsea integrity management team.

With more than 60 years’ experience between them, Djamel Hamel and Chris Overton add a wealth of operator knowledge to Xodus’ team which regularly provides integrity management support to UKCS operators.

Djamal Hamel has been appointed to the role of principal consultant, having previously worked within a senior pipeline position for six years at Spirit Energy, as well as engineering roles at Wood, Subsea 7 and Technip.

A chartered engineer, Djamal holds a PhD in Hydrodynamics from the University of Glasgow and has worked across the oil & gas industry in subsea disciplines, including rigid pipeline design and installation, risers, subsea pipeline asset integrity and project management.

Chris Overton also joins as a principal consultant, following seven years as senior pipeline integrity engineer at Repsol Sinopec. With a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Chris has previously undertaken roles at DNV GL, Lloyds Register, Oceaneering and Wood.

The new recruits join a team of 20 engineers who provide Xodus’ subsea integrity services, including support with pipelines, risers, subsea structures, umbilicals, controls and all other ancillary equipment. The team has also developed XAMIN, a digital platform for monitoring, managing and assessment of all aspects of the subsea integrity cycle.
