Aberdeen’s Trinity Centre is set to welcome a new retail outlet, the ‘Official Scotland Shop’, later this month. The store, operated by Scottish-themed gift retailer Born in Scotland, will offer a comprehensive range of official Scotland National Team merchandise, capitalising on the significant public interest surrounding the team’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
This upcoming tournament marks Scotland’s first World Cup appearance in 28 years, with their last participation dating back to 1998. The opening of a dedicated national team store in the Granite City comes as the Tartan Army prepares to follow their side’s journey on the global stage.
Born in Scotland, which already operates stores in major Scottish cities including multiple locations in Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as Stirling, is expanding its footprint with this new venture in Aberdeen.
The retailer asserts that its merchandise, spanning from T-shirts and scarves to flags and water bottles, is officially licensed by the Scottish FA. The company prides itself on avoiding what it terms “tartan tat,” instead focusing on products from local suppliers and designers. This aligns with their commitment to offer “everything you need” to “cheer on the team in the upcoming tournament.”
A spokesperson for Born in Scotland expressed enthusiasm for the new opening, stating: “We’re delighted to be opening in the Trinity Centre in Aberdeen. We chose the centre as it’s situated right in the heart of the city and perfectly placed for our customers. We know there is such a great following of the Tartan Army here in the north east. We can’t wait to welcome fans through the doors and help them get kitted out for Scotland’s World Cup journey.”
In Case You Missed it:
Kenny Bruce, the Trinity Centre manager, welcomed the new addition. “We’re thrilled to welcome Born in Scotland and the Official Scotland Shop. It’s a fantastic addition to our retail line-up and we know shoppers across the North East will be excited to pay a visit.”
Aberdeen has already made preparations for the upcoming tournament by seeking to extend pub opening hours and having an extra Bank Holiday the day after the first Scotland match, as well as hosting a World Cup ‘Fanzone’ at the city’s Harbour Works venue.
Scotland has been drawn into Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, alongside formidable opponents Brazil, Morocco, and Haiti. Their campaign is scheduled to commence on 14th June against Haiti, with a 2am UK time kick-off. Subsequently, Scotland will face Morocco on 19th June at 11pm UK time, followed by their final group stage match against five-time champions Brazil on 24th June, also at 11pm UK time.
