THE LEADING member-owned co-operative, ANM Group, is sponsoring the Business of the Year category at the Northern Star Business Awards, run by Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce.

The Awards, set to be announced on 28th April at P&J Live, feature five shortlisted finalists which demonstrate the breadth of the dynamic business environment in the North East.

The finalists are:

  • Maryculter House
  • Nomadic
  • North Star Shipping Ltd
  • Port of Aberdeen
  • Sport Aberdeen

The Awards ceremony, in addition to providing a platform for the most exciting and innovative businesses in the region, is also set to raise funds for several local charities – Mental Health Aberdeen, Aberdeen Science Centre, The Archie Foundation and Kayleigh’s Wee Stars.

As a cooperative, ANM Group takes pride in its extensive links across the region, and its huge contribution to the regional and national economy from its base at Thainstone, outside Inverurie. ANM is one of the UK’s largest and longest established co-operatives, having recently celebrated its 150 year anniversary.

Speaking as the co-op’s sponsorship of the category was announced, Group Chief Executive Grant Rogerson said:

“We are proud of our longstanding heritage here in the north-east, where over our 150 years of business we have worked alongside so many successful businesses in making a major difference to the regional and national economy.  That’s why we are delighted to be sponsoring the Business of the Year award.

“With such a dynamic and varied group of businesses being announced as finalists, it shows the quality of the business environment we have here. From a charitable sports trust to one of our country’s finest hospitality venues, from a continually innovating ports operator, to businesses demonstrating world leading technological innovation. The shortlist has it all.

“We want to wish the finalists every success at the ceremony itself, and with their continuing business development.”

The awards will be hosted by Scottish BBC presenter, Edith Bowman, and held at P&J Live in Aberdeen.
