Today (Weds 26 February 2025) SensationALL, the charity that supports people with neurodivergent or complex conditions across North East Scotland, has announced tickets are still available to its Sensory Ball at The Chester Hotel on Friday 14 March, and the team is now encouraging people to capitalise on this unique opportunity for an evening of indulgent food, fantastic entertainment and meaningful sensory experiences.
Headquartered in Westhill, SensationALL provides specifically-designed play activities, social groups and practical support for people of all ages with a variety of neurological conditions – with or without a formal diagnosis.
The charity is currently facing overwhelming demand for its services and ensuring events such as the Sensory Ball are sold out will make an incredible difference to families who need support in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
Lisa Grainger, fundraising and marketing manager at SensationALL, says: “Many of SensationALL’s attendees struggle with sensory processing issues so we want to give our guests an insight into what this means by weaving a sensory theme into every possible part of the night.
“We’re going to challenge people’s expectations in fun ways to demonstrate what it can be like for SensationALL attendees. For example, the food may be presented in an unusual manner and there could be surprising changes in the room’s lighting or entertainment might start when you least expect it.”

Around 10% of the UK population is estimated to have sensory processing issues. These individuals can be severely challenged by everyday situations that the majority of people take for granted and breeze through – social interactions, noisy environments, the feel of clothes or the texture of food.
Suz Strachan, clinical manager and co-founder, explains the reasoning behind the theme: “More than half of those with neurodivergent conditions (such as Autism and ADHD) will experience some form of sensory disruption.
“And, if left undiagnosed, this can have a detrimental effect on their personal relationships, educational/employment achievements and their mental health.
“Many become socially isolated as they feel judged by and excluded from general society. At SensationALL, we integrate a sensory approach into everything we do, from messy play, to using sensory equipment (including fidgets, light-up toys or vibration plates) to positive movement for self-regulation.
“We also empower individuals by teaching coping skills so they can better manage their responses to sensory input and communicate when they are overwhelmed.”
Lisa continues: “Most people associate charity balls with corporates who purchase whole tables to entertain their clients and friends.
“But much like SensationALL’s services we want to open our Sensory Ball to everyone, from couples looking for a date idea to groups of friends who want a different kind of night out, to foodies who enjoy an indulgent evening of hospitality.
“This year’s unique theme means it’ll be fun but has underlying meaning that will surprise and inspire. It will definitely be a night to remember!”
Thanks to key sponsors The JEllie Foundation, DeepOcean and Oilenco, the event will include an arrival drinks’ reception followed by a decadent yet surprising three-course meal.
In Case You Missed it:
The evening’s entertainment has been designed to surprise and delight featuring world-renowned act, The London Essentials with their immersive musical experience, plus dancing until late to local band Starsky.
There will also be an auction and games to raise vital funds for SensationALL’s work across northeast Scotland supporting individuals of ALL ages.
