A PETERHEAD based engineering and fabrication service provider has marked several milestones despite the ongoing challenges posed by Covid-19.

Dales Engineering Services Ltd was recently awarded its largest ever single contract award, worth a significant seven figure sum, for the fabrication of three subsea manifold structures for the Arran field development.

Billy Duncan, engineering director, said: “The complex structures were fabricated over 8 months before being loaded out from Peterhead Port, with each structure weighing over 100Te.

“We continue to work on the subsea spools element of the project which will tie back the manifolds to the existing infrastructure in 2021.”

Last month the firm completed its 100th vessel mobilisation since the Covid-19 lockdown in March.

Billy said: “On the back of 4 years of no Lost Time Incidents across our business, we are proud to have continued working safely throughout the Covid-19 pandemic with now over 1 million safe hours of work.”

Looking to the future, Paul Lyttle, senior project engineer, has been appointed to lead its hydro renewables service offering.

Kevin Thomson, operations director, said: “Paul has been with Dales Engineering for over three years overseeing a wide variety of hydro and utilities site projects.

“This traditional industry continues to be at the forefront of the Scottish renewables sector and plays an important part in the national drive to achieving net zero carbon emissions.”
