North-east motorists urged to have their say on city centre bus gates

ARE you less likely to visit Aberdeen’s city centre now that the bus gates have been fully introduced? Or are you finding it easier than ever to get around on public transport? Here’s your chance to have your say.

Within two months of their introduction, a million bus users benefitted from them.

However, tens of thousands of drivers have been caught out, while closed down businesses have blamed bus gates for decreasing footfall.

The purpose of these changes was to reduce the volume of general traffic, while still allowing public transport and active travel methods within the affected streets.

The six month consultation by Aberdeen City Council on the changes is due to close on Tuesday, January 23.

Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce is repeating a survey on the impact of the road changes to check to what extent the impacts predicted have held true, and what the current opinions and likely future impacts may be if the changes remain permanently.
