The musicians, who will unite to form a Big Band, a Vocal Jazz Ensemble and 3 Jazz Combos, will perform in the AMIS Jazz Combo Night on Friday evening (September 30th) followed by the AMIS Big Band Gala Concert on Saturday night (October 1st).

The public is invited to attend both events, which are free of charge.

As well as the main evening performances, the weekend will also incorporate a series of workshops with jazz professionals from Germany, Spain and the United States.

The event marks the first time the jazz festival has been held anywhere in the world since 2019.

Kent Walter, Fine Arts Co-ordinator at ISA, said: “We are honoured to welcome a talented ensemble of musicians from all over the world with many more students, including our own ISA musicians, being offered the chance to extend their jazz skills over the weekend in the specially organised workshops designed to hone their talent and explore different skills.

ISA is focused on supporting the next generation of accomplished performers and we are incredibly proud to be hosting the return of this festival. We are looking forward to filling our school theatre with the lively and captivating sound of jazz music after three years of silence!”

The AMIS Jazz Combo Night will begin at 6pm on Friday with the AMIS Big Band Gala Concert taking place at 7.30pm on Saturday night. Both performances will be held in ISA’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre.

The AMIS Jazz Festival & Jazz Skills Workshop is being held during a very special year for ISA as it celebrates its 50th Anniversary. Established in August 1972, ISA is Scotland’s first international school and over the last five decades, the school has continued its mission to deliver educational excellence while helping children find their place in the world.

With a student population of approx. 500, with half of those coming from the local area, ISA utilises best practices in education from around the world.
