A subsea technology specialist has been awarded a Norwegian patent for its revolutionary product that unlocks efficiencies within the oil and gas industry.
Based in Aberdeen, STL (Subsea Technologies Limited) has reached the next stage in its efforts to secure worldwide patents for its Xtreme Release Connector, currently in use globally.

The company’s high-angle release connector greatly enhances safety and reduces environmental risks, whilst saving time and money by increasing a vessel’s operating window.

A pioneering product by having no maximum disconnect angle, it also allows the vessel’s crew enough time to respond to challenging scenarios without the risk of getting stuck to the wellhead or damaging the connector if the crew do not react fast enough – a risk presented by all other connectors on the market.
Drummond Lawson, STL managing director, said the patent recognised the product’s unique offering in the subsea riser connector market.
