The move will secure a total of 12 jobs at both companies, which will now operate under the Granite Occupational Health name. It will also enable the addition of key services such as diving medicals and in-house counselling, including substance misuse.

The move brings together near two-year-old Westhill-based Granite Occupational Health which is headed by Jen McHugh and Monica Walker and Aberdeen Medical Services, a 30-year-old, family-run independent occupational health provider which was established by Dr Hugh Hepburn and is now run by his son Mark.

Commenting on the news, Jen McHugh said: “By coming together in this way, we are able to secure a critical skills base and deliver to our customers a unique blend of expertise and knowledge.

Monica Walker added: “Granite Occupational Health may be a relative newcomer to the local market but our drive and vision, married with Aberdeen Medical Services’ history, longevity and family values will be a winning combination in fuelling our future growth ambitions.”

Mark Hepburn said: “This announcement represents an exciting new chapter for the company, positioning us as unique in both our diversity of portfolio and our geographic presence in Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.”
