Now in seventh year, the fundraiser has raised almost £14,000 for charity over the years with the funds coming from sweepstake admission fees and from donations. This year, the target has been set at £5,000, with the Aberdeen-based Ocean Marine Group pledging to add an additional £5,000 to the charity pot.

It is hoped that the remaining £2,000 will be raised from an auction, a cake and bake sale by Mrs Smiths at Haddo, and the other events taking place during Ocean Marine Group’s Super Saturday Open House on March 19th.. The sweepstake is also being supported by a number of partners and suppliers who are donating prizes and auction lots and helping to promote the event.

“The last year continued to be challenging for many charities so we really wanted to do something special around this year’s sweepstake, because they need support more than ever,” said Jay Smith, recruitment manager at ETPM.

“Over the years, the charities we have supported have included Aberdeen North Foodbank, NHS Grampian Endowment Foundation, Alzheimer Scotland, The Bill McLaren Foundation, Roxburghe House and Befriend a Child as well as a number of small, local rugby clubs.

“Last year we set a target of £2,000 but raised almost double that so we wanted to raise the bar even higher this year, and we’re very grateful for the support we have had from so many organisations.”

Participants in the sweepstake have to predict the winner of each match in the Six Nations tournament and also Scotland’s overall points total. The culmination of the event is on Saturday, March 19th – Super Saturday.

Closing date for registration is Saturday, February 5. Details on how to register can be found at https://super-saturday-rugby.co.uk/
