APSN is the only company in the north-east to be certified by the world’s leading helideck safety agency Helideck Certification Agency (HCA) for its testing, supply and fit of helideck safety netting, and as a result, is recognised as a leading safety partner for oil and gas companies across the globe.

APSN managing director Danny Lonie established the business as a sister company to Allied Training Services which offers accredited health and safety training in the UK and internationally in skills including water jetting, rope access, working at height and forklift driving.

Over the last five years, APSN has built a strong international business providing helideck perimeter netting and friction test services to operators and service companies worldwide. Specialists in drop and stretch testing, APSN technicians travel across the globe to facilitate mandatory annual net inspections as well as net supply and installation. During the last year alone, APSN has provided testing and installation services in Bulgaria, Libya, France, Dubai, Malta, Equator New Guinea, Louisiana and across the UK, both offshore and harbour-side.

APSN is based at Aberdeen Harbour and has a team of eight technicians.

Danny Lonie said: “Celebrating five years of a growing family business is a major achievement for APSN, which was born during one of the most difficult times we have had in the offshore industry. We started APSN from a small base in Wellington Street and now service operators and service companies in over 15 countries. This year, our turnover at £120,000 is more than double that of 2018 and we continue to see growth.

“With health and safety at our core, we continually invest in technology to keep abreast of the latest inspection requirements, ensuring that we offer clients the very latest and safest products and services. As the only HCA approved company, we provide clients with a detailed survey and inspection report of their perimeter nets, backed up by photographic and video evidence of our testing criteria.

“In 2018, we made a five-figure investment in equipment to add helideck friction testing to our suite of services, in order to give clients access to a wider range of inspection and testing expertise.

“Additionally, we are the only HCA approved facility in Aberdeen with a drop test facility which meets the requirements of CAP437, CAA/ICAO and UKOG regulations, where dynamic stretch testing of sacrificial webbing wire mesh rope are pulled through energy criterion of 2.3kj.

“Always keeping on top of safety regulations, APSN is proud to have gained and retained DNV ISO 9001-2015 for our integrated helideck perimeter safety net inspection, friction, drop and stretch testing certification which has been vital to securing business with operators across the world.”
