Interocean Marine Services (Interocean), a leading specialist in offshore support services, has been named the winner of this year’s Associate Member’s Safety Award at the prestigious IADC North Sea Chapter (NSC) Annual Safety Awards.

Now in its 52nd year, the IADC NSC Annual Safety Awards celebrate outstanding safety achievements among industry members. Taking place on Friday night [21st March 2025], the award ceremony saw Interocean receive recognition for its innovative approach to enhancing safety in offshore operations.

Interocean’s commitment to safety is demonstrated through its pioneering use of UAV-based Ultrasonic Thickness Measurement (UTM) inspections. As one of the first companies worldwide to receive both ABS and DNV classifications for conducting UTM inspections using drones on Mobile Offshore Units, Interocean has set new industry benchmarks.

The company’s cutting-edge drone technology has transformed traditional inspection methods, reducing personnel exposure to hazardous environments and significantly reducing the need for scaffolding and rope access by up to 80%. This advancement enhances inspection speed and efficiency while maintaining compliance and accuracy.

By minimising operational risks, Interocean’s drone-based inspections are driving safety improvements across the energy, maritime, and industrial sectors.

Accepting the award on behalf of Interocean, Alex Reid, Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are honoured to be recognised by the IADC for our dedication to advancing offshore safety standards. This award is a testament to Interocean’s ongoing commitment to supporting our customers by enhancing safety, efficiency, and sustainability in offshore drilling operations.”

Interocean’s innovative use of drone technology not only strengthens safety protocols but also optimises inspections, reduces downtime, and lowers costs. By enabling asset owners to make informed decisions, the company continues to protect both personnel and assets in offshore environments.
