You don’t have to travel far for a great day out this spring, as Banff Castle is launching a packed programme of events this April, with something for all ages.

A brand new event, The Great Egg Quest, will take place on Saturday 4 April and will see children exploring a series of themed areas throughout the Castle as they spot a variety of different eggs. Each young participant will receive a small prize, making it an ideal Easter holiday activity for families.

A returning favourite, The Critter Keeper, is back with his fascinating collection of exotic animals. This popular event is already close to selling out, reflecting its strong appeal with visitors of all ages.

Fans of those famous plastic bricks can look forward to the LEGO Builders’ Showcase on Saturday 11 April, where local enthusiasts will display their creative builds. The event also includes hands-on LEGO build stations, with bricks kindly provided by Macduff Library. Visitors can also enter a raffle to win LEGO sets, generously sponsored by A&Z Donuts. Entry to this event is free, with donations welcome. There are still a couple of tables available for enthusiastic LEGO builders who would like to show off their creations. Anyone interested should get in touch to book a space.

Banff Fayres returns on Sunday 12 April, combining a vibrant market atmosphere with family-friendly attractions including cute and cuddly lambs and live music from Turriff Silver Band.

Further activity continues with Pop-up Shops on 17 and 18 April, alongside a Community Cinema screening of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale on Friday 17 April.

John Cox, Chair of Banff Castle Community Association, said:

“We have a very busy summer programme which has been devised to benefit the Castle and the wider community, increasing footfall in the town and attracting visitors to the area.”

Jo Edwards, Project Officer added:

“We’ve worked hard to create a programme that gives people a reason to come back again and again, whether that’s for family activities, live events or just to enjoy the atmosphere at the Castle.”

We are always delighted to welcome new faces to our friendly team of volunteers, and there are plenty of opportunities for people to get involved, meet others and be part of something positive at the heart of the community.”

Banff Castle continues to grow as a vibrant community hub, offering a wide range of accessible, affordable events in a unique historic setting.
