North East’s third sector invited to apply to benefit from 12th Sportschallenge fundraiser, as new host duo unveiled

Local charities are being invited to apply to become beneficiaries of Piper Sandler’s Sportschallenge, which will hold its 12 event on Thursday, 10 September 2026.

Since its launch, the North East’s premier sports-themed corporate dinner and quiz has raised more than £1 million for charitable causes, including over £130,000 shared between five charities in 2025 alone.

Charities can apply directly, while businesses and individuals are also encouraged to nominate organisations they believe are deserving of support. Applications must be submitted via the online form by Friday, 17 April.

Funds raised at the 2026 event, once again taking place at P&J Live, will be distributed among the newly selected charity partners, alongside long-term beneficiaries Maggie’s Aberdeen and Children’s Aid (Scotland).

A firm fixture in the Aberdeen business calendar, Sportschallenge brings together companies from across the region for an evening of competitive sporting trivia and entertainment with the shared goal of raising vital funds for North East charities.

This year will also see an exciting addition to the presenting team, with esteemed Scottish sports broadcaster, Amy Irons, joining long-standing host and former Scotland international rugby union player, Andy Nicol.

Nick Dalgarno, trustee of Sportschallenge and managing director of Piper Sandler, said: “Last year’s Sportschallenge saw us exceed the £1 million milestone in total funds raised since the event series began – a fantastic achievement made possible by the continued generosity of the North-east business community. As we look ahead to our 2026 event, we are determined to build on that momentum and extend our support to an even broader range of deserving local charities.

“Selecting our beneficiaries is never easy, as the standard of applications is consistently high. That is why we encourage as many organisations as possible to apply or be nominated. Every pound raised by our supporters is carefully directed to where it can make the greatest impact in the local market.”

A limited number of sponsorship opportunities for the event are still available. The packages offer businesses the chance to showcase their brand to a highly engaged audience of North-east business leaders before, during and after the evening. All remaining sponsorship opportunities include a premium-position table for 10 guests at the event.

In addition to Piper Sandler, current sponsors include CNR International, Blackwood Partners, Azets and Cala.

Alongside sponsorship packages, a limited number of tables of 10 are still available for this year’s event, priced at £1,800.
