PLANS for a council-operated £3.7m recycling centre next to the old AECC have been approved by the local authority.

That’s despite complaints from neighbouring Aberdeen Energy Park and Royal Aberdeen Golf Club, with the latter arguing the increased noise will affect golfers and the “sense of connection with natural surroundings”.

Landscaping concerns, including removing trees to gain construction and drainage access, were also among the concerns.

The site will contain 25 skips and a small second-hand shop.

The facility will be powered mainly by solar panels.

The plans are available for perusal here.
