A former Vodaphone store in the centre of Aberdeen’s shopping district may soon become a pizza eatery, thanks to a local entrepreneur.
According to the Press and Journal, Hafiz Mubarik Hussain from Stonehaven is planning to transform the empty space at 92 Union Street, which has remained unoccupied for six years, into a dining venue with 29 seats.
This property is located directly across from the new £40 million international food market in Aberdeen, set to open next year.
The unit has been empty for over 6 years, but is surrounded by well-known high street retailers and is positioned between two of the city’s major shopping centres.
Our Union Street representatives have stated the 1,321 sq ft shop is in a “prime location“, surrounded as it is by established high street names such as McDonald’s and Sports Direct.

Business leaders in the city have embarkde on a new campaign aimed at reducing the number of vacant properties affecting the high street by providing “distinctive” incentives to attract traders.
Among these incentives is the offer of a rent-free first year of tenancy, along with lowered rates.
Last year, the number of unoccupied units on Union Street fell from 48 to 34, with Our Union Street leader Bob Keiller aspiring to reduce this figure to 20 by the end of this year.
