Banff Castle Community Association is set to host a trial pop-up shop event this Friday 27 and Saturday 28 February between 10am and 3pm in the former banking hub at Banff Castle.

The two-day pilot will showcase local small businesses, with four traders joining on Friday and five on Saturday. Taking part on Friday are Berties Sweets, No 26 Crafts, Jayde Designs Art and Sea of Solice – glass jewellery. The Fudge Bakery will join the line-up on Saturday.

The initiative is being trialled to provide affordable retail space for local traders and to attract more people into Banff town centre. If the pop-ups prove successful and viable for the businesses involved, the events will be repeated in March.

Chairman of Banff Castle Community Association said: “We are hoping to help stimulate the local economy and complement existing businesses in the town by bringing more people into Banff. This is about creating opportunities for small traders while encouraging footfall that benefits everyone.”

Project Officer Jo Edwards said: “If this trial proves successful, we would love to see it become a regular feature. Any small business interested in taking part in future pop-up events should get in touch at [email protected].”

The pop-up shops are open to the public and free to enter.
