Kenny’s Music has shut its Aberdeen shop on The Green after the specialist retailer ceased trading and confirmed plans to enter liquidation.
The company, which also operated stores in Glasgow and Dunfermline and sold instruments and audio equipment online, cited a “rapidly rising cost base” and “continued pressure on margins” as the reasons it could no longer sustain the traditional music retail model.
In Case You Missed it:
Managing director Alex Marten said: “The rapidly rising cost base across both stores and e-commerce, combined with continued pressure on margins, has made it impossible for us to operate sustainably within the traditional music retail model. Continuing to trade would not have been responsible. Although this chapter is ending, I remain committed to the MI industry and hope to contribute again in future in a way that better reflects the changing needs of musicians and suppliers alike. In the meantime, I will do everything I reasonably can to assist you and the proposed liquidator through this process.”
The retailer’s website has been taken offline, with a notice directing customers to [email protected] for assistance while the winding-up process progresses.
No details have been provided on outstanding orders or gift vouchers. Customers are advised to retain receipts and payment records and await guidance from the appointed liquidator once confirmed.
