PORT of Aberdeen has appointed Naveed Qamar as Head of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) as the organisation maintains its laser like focus on safe operations at North Harbour and the construction of its major South Harbour expansion project.

Naveed joined the Port as a member of the executive leadership team on Monday 29 August and reports to Chief Executive, Bob Sanguinetti. With more than 30 years’ industry experience, Naveed joins the Port having held a wide range of senior positions in highly regulated and complex risk sector organisations, including Associated British Ports, Serco Dubai and FirstGroup.

In his new role, Naveed will be responsible for SHEQ across the organisation and will play a key role in the Port of Aberdeen’s Green Port strategy and drive to Net Zero.

Bob Sanguinetti, Port of Aberdeen Chief Executive said: “Attracting Naveed to the Port of Aberdeen is a great endorsement of our strategy and ambition. He has strong industry experience, as well as considerable knowledge of transport sectors which will complement the talent, expertise and capabilities in the Port.

“Our first priority is, and always will be, protecting our people and those affected by our operations, so it will be a key part of Naveed’s role to work with our stakeholders to continuously improve the health, safety, and environmental performance throughout the Port’s estate.”

Commenting on his appointment, Naveed Qamar added: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining Port of Aberdeen in my role as Head of SHEQ. It is a very exciting time to join the Port as we aim to become Scotland’s premier Net Zero port at the heart of the nation’s energy transition.
