Oilfield chemical specialist Roemex has completed a management buyout, marking a significant milestone for the company as it continues to expand its presence in both traditional oil and gas and the rapidly growing offshore renewables sector.
Three long-serving executives, George Dickson, Peter Wilkie and Alex Buchan, have now taken over the Portlethen-based company for an undisclosed sum.
It comes as Roemex, which has a turnover of £14.5 million and 40 employees, celebrates 41 years in business.
Roemex, known for its high-performance chemical solutions tailored to the energy industry, has recently achieved Fit 4 Offshore Renewables (F4OR) ‘granted’ status, a recognition that underscores its commitment to supporting the transition to renewable energy.
Peter Wilkie, General Manager at Roemex, highlighted the company’s strategic direction following the buyout: “Our participation in the F4OR North East Scotland programme has been an important part of our transition into offshore wind. We are already applying decades of energy sector expertise to support clients in this space, and this process has further strengthened the robust procedures we already had in place.”
Richard Simcox, who will now step down as managing director, said: “Building this business over 40 years has been the privilege of a lifetime, and I’m really proud of what we’ve achieved.
“Handing it over to the team who have helped shape its success ensures continuity, stability, and a bright future.”
