North East Radio Scotland will be launching onto Dab Digital Radio across Aberdeen City on Friday 15th Aug 2025, at 8am.

Last week after months of hard work behind the scenes, OFCOM granted a full time dab license for the new station, which did a soft launch last year on online and via Freeview tv channel 277.

The station aims to offer a varied programme, promising lots of feel good chat and music as well as local and live / community news, weather / roads info, requests and dedications, competitions, live phone ins and much more for Aberdeen and surrounding areas.

North East Radio Scotland has recently moved into new premises with a state of the art studio and lots of open office space, which they hope will allow them to expand services within the community and to work alongside various organisations and groups.

A spokesman said:

“We want to put the fun back into local radio. Everyone who is currently involved are volunteers and give up their time to help run the station. We are always on the lookout for more volunteers who love their music and love Aberdeen and the north east of Scotland and want to join in the fun.”

Station Owner Ronnie Arthur commented:

“I believe it’s all about giving people a chance and a voice who would normally not get a chance elsewhere and it’s all about giving people training experience and volunteer opportunities.

“We would like to invite the whole Aberdeen & Surrounding areas to tune into us from 8am Friday 15th Aug 2025!’

If you or your business or organisation would like to get involved, you can contact tha station via their Facebook page or by calling 01224 090404 or by visiting website www.northeastradioscot.co.uk.
