An Aberdeen-based energy industry service company has seen an increase in business following a six-figure investment to launch its new hydraulics division.

Pressure Test Solutions Ltd (PTS) invested £250,000 in a new hydraulics and pneumatics products division in Q4 2017 to complement existing company services by offering hose assemblies and hose fittings for use on and offshore.

After only nine full months of trading, the hydraulics division is contributing 20% of company turnover, around £360,000.

Additional premises in the Bridge of Don were secured to house the division, and a team of three members of staff were employed to support the enterprise, including manager Ian Reid who has more than 25 years industry experience.

The business has also invested in a bespoke certification package which will enable clients to review each product’s history, including testing and certification dates directly from their office.

Established in 2008, PTS specialises in rental, sales and calibration of equipment to the energy industry from its base in Denmore Industrial Estate, Bridge of Don.

PTS focuses on five key niche specialist areas: Pressure test equipment and instrumentation rental; hazardous area equipment rental; radio communications equipment; flushing units and hose reelers, and now the supply of hydraulic and pneumatic products, including Hammer Unions.

Now in its tenth year of business, the company has steadily grown to become a leading player in the North Sea and international markets by continually investing in equipment, support services and its people.

Gary Notman, managing director of PTS, said: “Our new hydraulics and pneumatics division has been very successful since it started trading earlier this year and we’ve seen a significant increase in business in this area.

“The division is already contributing 20% of company turnover and we aim to increase that over the next few months. Customer feedback on all our products is very encouraging and many have said they like dealing with a company which can provide the full package.

“We’re also working to finalise some new distributor agreements which will see our range of products extended to enable us to promote our service offerings to different markets around the world.

“We hold a large amount of stock in Aberdeen, with the ability in-house to assemble hose products and supply fittings along with all our other products and services across the company.

“We’re in a unique position to service companies based in the north-east, and beyond, as no-one else in the local market has the breadth of products we can supply.”
