In the current economic climate, everyone, from massive businesses to individuals, is having to seriously reconsider the way they budget for products and services, with many businesses looking for ways to cut costs. One particular area that people have traditionally overspent is printing.

Thankfully, with increasingly affordable technologies and consumer-orientated services and solutions, there are now a number of ways to print on a budget. Here are our 5 top tips for achieving that.

1.   Don’t print more than you need

Often, people will print far more than they need to, massively overestimating how many copies they’ll require. Try to come up with an accurate estimate of how many prints you’ll need, and only add in a small percentage over that for accidental damage and loss.

Unless there’s a massive discount for ordering in bulk, it’ll end up more cost effective if you just order more if you run out. This way, you can avoid wasting both storage space and money.

2.   Do print digitally

For many years, the go-to printing solution was traditional, lithographic printing methods. Nowadays, it’s far more affordable to go with digital printing options. Digital printing can now provide results that are just as good or even better than those provided via lithographic printing, generally at a fraction of the cost.

This is partly because the printing process requires basically no set-up, and is often nearly entirely waste-free – great for your budget, and also great for your green credentials.

3.   Don’t leave it to the last minute

One thing that people often overlook is the increased expenses associated with leaving things to the last minute. If you start looking for a printing solution just before you actually need it, you’ll often be limited in your options, with many of the more popular services being fully booked up.

It can also mean that you end up having to pay for premium delivery solutions, which can be far more expensive than budget-oriented solutions. This price hike can be even more pronounced if you’re having the prints delivered directly to your customers.

4.   Do look for an online service

Online printing services such as Plan Printing 24 can provide a great opportunity to save money during the printing process. First, they save you time, as you don’t need to physically go to visit their shop – just send them the digital file and they’ll send you the prints.

Second, as they don’t have to pay for a physical shop in a town or city that’s accessible to customers, they can pass those savings on to the consumer.

5.   Do deliver straight to the recipient

Often, businesses will order prints to be delivered to their business, only to have to send them out to clients at a later date. If you use an online printing service that can send them straight to your customers, you can pay for only one delivery, rather than two.

As you can see, there are a number of ways to get your printing done on a relatively small budget. By following these tips and being diligent throughout the whole process, you can potentially save a lot of money.
