New associate partner, Geoff Jacobs, will play a key role supporting a range of businesses and sectors across Scotland, including in the oil and gas sector as it navigates through a challenging period.

Commenting on his promotion, Geoff said: “Despite the many challenges 2020 has created for Aberdeen and the wider region, the city continues to play a crucial role in supporting the economy of Scotland and the rest of the UK.

“The energy sector has suffered from a period of deep, sustained uncertainty, but it’s also renowned for its resilience.

“The coming months will be crucial for many businesses as they ride out the storm COVID-19, oil price uncertainty and Brexit have created.

“We’re already seeing evidence of an uptick in M&A activity, with far greater collaboration as companies look to pool resources and combine their expertise to deliver long-term sustainable growth.

“I’m delighted to take on such an important position and support clients in energy and other fields with the vast array of experience and insight KPMG has to offer.”

Martin Findlay, KPMG senior partner, said: “It goes without saying that 2020 has created a raft of challenges for Aberdeen’s economy, but I’m incredibly proud of the tireless work our team members have delivered, supporting clients and providing guidance and insight.

“Our focus on trust and growth, backed up by solid relationships, is being demonstrated every day through the work each individual carries out across the city and the wider region.

“We pride ourselves on creating a robust, healthy environment to assist our clients as they look to achieve their ambitions – regardless of market conditions – and I’m delighted to recognise the hard work of our Aberdeen team this year.”
