Aberdeen’s Union Square is set to bid farewell to another retailer, with Quiz clothing announcing the closure of its store after years of trading. The popular women’s fashion chain has begun a clearance sale, signalling its imminent departure and prompting shoppers to seize final bargains while stocks last.
Although the precise closing date is yet to be confirmed, Quiz is expected to cease trading at its Union Square unit sometime in September. The decision comes as the company faces significant challenges; having entered administration, it unveiled plans to shut 23 stores across the UK, putting approximately 200 jobs at risk.
In Case You Missed it:
Founded in Scotland in 1993 with only three retail outlets, Quiz evolved into a high street fashion success story, expanding to more than 250 stores throughout Europe and Asia. The closure marks another chapter of change at Union Square, which has already seen the likes of FatFace, Superdry and Hollister shut their doors earlier this year.
Despite the turbulent landscape, new openings are helping to revive the centre’s retail prospects. Esteemed brands Victoria’s Secret and Hobbs have recently set up shop in vacant units, and high street favourite Mango is reportedly preparing a substantial investment, spending over half a million pounds on a forthcoming store refurbishment.
Quiz’s exit highlights ongoing shifts in Aberdeen’s retail environment, driven by nationwide challenges facing fashion retailers and changing consumer habits. As the city watches another established name depart, attention turns to the new arrivals poised to reshape the shopping experience in Union Square.
