Since the relaunch of ModuSpec’s technical training last October, client interest has continued to grow at an exponential rate.

Demand has widened within Europe – particularly in Romania and Norway – and in the Middle East in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Oman and Qatar. Clients based in Cairo, Egypt are also signing up to the Rig Inspection Workshop for Land and Workover Rigs.

It’s estimated that more than 500 delegates will attend ModuSpec rig equipment courses during 2025.

Requests to reintroduce the renowned Subsea Engineer Programme also indicate a there is a need in the market to support the development of Subsea Engineers looking after the blow out preventer (BOP) used in offshore campaigns.

Mark Watson, Operations Director with ModuSpec, said: “We have been blown away by the level of demand for our technical training courses since relaunching in October last year. Our decision to offer the Rig Inspection Workshop in line with specific rig types is paying off. For example, clients operating offshore in the North Sea, Mediterranean and Gulf of Mexico are signing up to the specific course covering the offshore rigs, i.e. jack-ups, semi-submersibles and drillships. Clients who operate on land are specifically signing up to the Land and Workover Rigs course.”

“The material has been updated to focus on the equipment used on the particular rig type which we believe will enrich the learning experience of delegates. Our strategy to fill a gap in the market has been validated – there is huge demand from our clients to learn more about how rig equipment functions, how it should be maintained, what can go wrong and to learn more about compliance requirements.”

“As for the Subsea Engineer Programme, we are seriously looking at bringing it back to the market. During early 2010s, we trained over 500 new and existing Subsea Engineers to support the growth of the global rig fleet during the market boom. It’s clear to us now that demand for high quality technical training still exists.”

ModuSpec brought back its technical training offering in response to client demand after a 10-year absence brought about industry downturns. Courses are delivered through its sister company, Well Academy – a global drilling and well training provider.
