An Aberdeen-based safety training and competence management organisation has secured a training management service agreement for the next three years with a large subsea solutions firm.

RelyOn Nutec’s Training Management Service (TMS) has secured a deal to manage the training matrix and associated resources for Rever Offshore, formerly Bibby Offshore, with an option to increase the agreement for a further two years to 2024.

With around 600 personnel, Rever Offshore now joins a host of other large clients using RelyOn Nutec’s training management service which operates the TMS service from bases in Aberdeen and Montrose, employing 26 staff.

The TMS service, a division that supports companies internal training teams, helps identify and arrange training courses, track training compliance and provides expert knowledge of regulatory and mandatory training requirements across all industry sectors.

As part of the agreement, RelyOn Nutec will manage around 150 direct employees for the subsea specialist contractor whilst also supporting some of the firm’s third party contractors.

RelyOn Nutec UK Commercial Director, Mike Eriksen, said: “Managing the training services for Rever has allowed us to gain more traction in the subsea sector, which will bring different challenges than the oil and gas market as it is more transient and fluid workforce.  We’ve collaborated closely with the team at Rever to understand the sector in much more detail and as a result we’ve made some changes to our processes, to suit the maritime needs of Rever and the spread of resources and changing location requirements to ensure we cater for, and deliver in line with our maritime clients’ needs.

“We have built up a significant amount of trust with Rever and will support their requirements in the North Sea and Europe with the capabilities in place to expand our service delivery globally for them in the future.  It’s important for us to focus on our core business of oil and gas but it is also equally important for us to diversify and use our skills and expertise in new and emerging sectors.”

Nathan Calvert, Competency & Training Manager, Rever Offshore added: “The service that RelyOn is delivering for us ensures our personnel’s training and certification is fully up to date and we are fully compliant.

“We have worked closely with the RelyOn team and they have been focussed in adapting their training services to suit our industry requirements.  We are looking forward to continuing that strong relationship in the coming months and years as we work together to always ensure that safety is a priority.”

RelyOn Nutec (previously Falck Safety Services) was acquired by Danish private equity firm, Polaris, last year and the safety services division has over 30 training centres across the world, including UK bases in Peterhead, Aberdeen, Montrose and Teesside.  The company has more than 100 UK employees.

During the acquisition, the business evolved from a training organisation to deliver a full range of consultancy and training management services, offering clients a 360 safety approach and reassurance that their workforce is fully compliant and safe.
