RenQuip Ltd, the Aberdeen-based manufacturer and rental provider of specialist industrial equipment, has opened a second operational facility in Grangemouth, marking what the company describes as a significant step in its national expansion strategy.
Founded in Dyce, Aberdeen in 2021, RenQuip manufactures and rents hydraulic and mechanical equipment, including flange maintenance products, controlled bolting tools, and on-site machining solutions , to clients across the offshore energy, renewables, decommissioning, and industrial construction sectors.
The company completed a management buyout (MBO) in June 2025, with managing director Marc Gerrard and technical director John Morgan assuming full ownership following backing from Indigo 7 Ventures.
The new Grangemouth depot will function as a scalable regional hub, handling rental inventory management, equipment servicing, and refurbishment, while mirroring the service standards maintained at the company’s Aberdeen base.
The site is to be managed by Shaun Cruickshank, a returning team member described by the company as bringing “a wealth of industry knowledge” and familiarity with RenQuip’s customer service ethos.
Grangemouth’s strategic appeal is clear. The Falkirk-based town is home to Scotland’s largest port and petrochemical complex, and sits at the centre of activity spanning renewable energy, wind, oil and gas, carbon capture, and industrial construction.
The expansion has been driven by client demand from contractors operating across central Scotland who have identified a need for locally available equipment with responsive service support.
Gerrard said the timing of the move reflects growing confidence in the RenQuip brand: “Heading into our fifth year of trading, we have created a solid foundation for growth and are starting to feel our brand take hold across the UK and internationally. Establishing a presence in Grangemouth allows us to better support our customers where they need us most. This expansion strengthens our ability to respond quickly to critical maintenance and construction activities while positioning RenQuip for continued sustainable growth across Scotland’s industrial sector.”
The company’s financial trajectory supports the ambition. RenQuip reported turnover growth of more than 40% in 2025 compared to the previous year, secured 47 major contracts, and grew its workforce from 12 to 18 employees.
For 2026, management is forecasting a further 25% increase in revenues, with the Grangemouth operation expected to contribute approximately £2 million to that growth over the next three years, alongside the creation of several local jobs.
In Case You Missed it:
The Grangemouth expansion is the latest in a series of milestones for a company that has moved quickly since its launch. In early 2025, RenQuip was named Start-up Business of the Year at the Northern Star Business Awards, and has since expanded into several European and international markets.
The company has also grown its product portfolio, launching the AT4 1.8 flange alignment tool and achieving subsea-proven status for its Viper 28 tool following deployment on a subsea ROV.
With a second operational base now established and a management team in full ownership of the business, RenQuip appears well-positioned to convert its rapid early-stage growth into a durable, multi-site operation serving Scotland’s evolving energy landscape.
