A new retro video games store is set to open in Aberdeen city centre early next year.
Video Games Aberdeen, run by couple Chris Plant and Edina Illyes, will open on Netherkirkgate in early 2026.
The pair, The Press and Journal reports, have enjoyed success with their Vintage Toys and Collectables store in McCombie’s Court, and are now expanding with a second unit.
The couple are aiming to make the new store “cosy and welcoming” for fans of retro gaming.
Chris told the P&J: “I ran a retro game shop in the old indoor market about 13 years ago. That idea was always there. But it probably wasn’t the right time or the right place. That’s how my online buying and selling page started out and what led us here.”

Partner Edina added: “Chris’s dream was to have a locally owned video game shop. I’m really excited to make this my own now. I’ve learned about video games and we’re planning to make it cosy and welcoming.”
Chris said: “We’re trying to sell nostalgia. Collectibles go hand-in-hand with the video games.”
Video Games Aberdeen will be selling games for everything from Atari 2600 to the relatively recent PlayStation 5.
