Riverside Drive in Aberdeen was left under water this morning [June 24, 2025], after a major water main burst, causing significant disruption to traffic and local residents.
Emergency services and council teams responded quickly to the incident, closing off sections of the busy road as water surged across the carriageway. Aberdeen City Council confirmed that their road crews were on site to manage the flooding and assess any damage caused by the burst main, in line with their operational plans for dealing with such emergencies.
Scottish Water, responsible for the city’s water supply, confirmed they are investigating the cause of the fault. Updates provided on the firm’s interactive map confirmed that households with the postcode AB10, AB12, AB24 and AB25 are currently experiencing issues. A spokesperson for Scottish Water said:
“While we investigate, please be aware that you may experience no water supply or low/intermittent water pressure. You may also experience discoloured water.”
Residents and commuters have been advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes while repairs are underway. Scottish Water has also provided a helpline for those affected by flooding in their homes, urging anyone in need of support to get in touch.
