An adventurer who travelled the world in a beat-up bus powered by used cooking oil is one of the speakers at this year’s E-Reps Forum.

Journalist Andy Pag will highlight sustainability issues at the annual Aberdeen event that puts the focus on the environmental dimension of the energy industry.

Andy spent two years driving around the world in an old school bus he salvaged from a scrap yard and turned into a home using reclaimed materials.

This journey was one of a series of experimental expeditions: Andy has driven a chocolate-powered lorry to Timbuktu in Mali, in the worldā€™s first carbon negative expedition, and has organised the ā€˜Grease to Greeceā€™ rally for cars fuelled on restaurant scraps.

Now in its 7th year, the E-Reps Forum takes place at Pittodrie Stadium on Wednesday, October 3 (2018) from 8am to 6.00pm. Themes this year include the future, innovation and thinking outside the box.

The event is an interactive conference with industry speakers, workshops and breakout sessions. Companies will be exhibiting at the event, with more than 100 people in total due to attend.

It offers a platform to industry influencers, decision makers, environmental representatives and HSE professionals to exchange views, identify opportunities, build relationships and develop ideas.

Experts from the Joint Nature Conservation Committee and the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy will give presentations as part of the programme. Operators and service companies will also present on a range of topics from workforce engagement to energy efficiency.

Andy Pag, who will host and present at the E-Reps Forum, said: “I’m looking forward to finding out more about the oil and gas industry and its current and future environmental plans. The E-Reps Forum promises to be a thought-provoking and engaging event.”

Jill Butler-Rennie, founder and director of the E-Reps Forum, said: “We’re delighted to be returning to Pittodrie Stadium for this year’s event. Once again the E-Reps Forum gives industry professionals the opportunity to exchange ideas and put the spotlight on the sector’s environmental responsibilities.

“Our varied programme will provide value and insight to delegates. This is an opportunity to contribute to the environmental agenda and keep updated on the latest thinking in an area of the oil and gas industry that’s too important to ignore. I’m sure Andy Pag will prove to be an engaging host – one who is sure to stimulate debate.”

Andy is an award-winning reporter and investigative journalist based in Northern Ireland. His work has also appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, Wired and Sports Illustrated.

Sponsors of this year’s event include TAQA, Scotoil Services and RAM Tubulars. Tickets for the event at the Richard Donald Stand cost £85 plus VAT and booking fee.
