Richard Thomson, the Gordon MP, received a guided tour of the facilities where he witnessed a live demonstration of a Seaeye Cougar ROV in the test tank. Mike Mackie, the Head of Operations, provided an explanation of the testing procedure to Richard Thomson through live stream coverage from a control cabin.

The visit concluded with a briefing from Scott Jenney, the CEO, who offered insights into the company’s progress and the benefits of committing to the local area, investing in their new headquarters in Ellon and the positive impact on both the business and the local community. The emphasis for this year is on expansion, including the creation of several new positions and additional investments aimed at positioning the company for further growth.

Richard Thomson, MP, said: “I’ve followed Film Ocean’s journey over the years, and I’m impressed in how much they have committed to Ellon, with jobs, research, and community projects.”

Thomson continued: “It would be great to come back and see their headquarters when they are able to be fully sufficient in energy through their planned investment in renewables.”

Scott Jenney, Film-Ocean CEO, said: “It was a pleasure to have Richard Thomson visit our offices, where he engaged with our management team on sustainable business growth efforts at Film-Ocean. Richard’s deep understanding of the local community played a key part in our discussion, exploring potential support avenues for our business and others within the Ellon area. Additionally, we explored ways in which businesses can make a positive impact on the local community, highlighting the importance of corporate social responsibility and the benefits of providing career opportunities for future generations.
