The RHASS 2025–26 Aberdeenshire Presidential Initiative (PI) has helped to raise an outstanding £290,000 for three charitable organisations in a boost to Scotland’s agricultural community and future generations.
The fundraising efforts of the PI, led by RHASS President Pat Machray and supported by Vice-Presidents Robert Lovie, Dave Green, Robert Maitland, Anna Mitchell and Chaplain Ken MacKenzie, brought together support from across the agricultural sector and wider community through a programme of fundraising events. These efforts culminated in the presentation of funding awards at this year’s Royal Highland Show with cheques distributed to three beneficiaries:
- £123,000 to the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs (SAYFC), supporting its ambitious Big Build campaign to create a new national centre at Ingliston.
- £81,000 to RSABI, the charity dedicated to providing practical, emotional and financial support to people in Scottish agriculture.
- £86,000 to RHASS to contribute towards the development of a new cattle washing facility at the home of the Royal Highland Show, the Royal Highland Centre.
As well as helping to fundraise a phenomenal amount, the PI’s campaign for Aberdeenshire highlighted the contribution of the north-east of Scotland to agriculture, food and drink production, tourism, education, heritage, health and the whisky industry, while strengthening connections across rural communities.
