The Sand Management Network (SMN), which is led by Robert Gordon University academic, Dr Gbenga Oluyemi, is holding a conference bringing together energy companies, students and university professionals.
The SMN Euroforum 2024 is a premier event dedicated to advancing knowledge and best practices in sand management across the energy sector.

It will be held at the Ardoe House Hotel in Aberdeen from Wednesday 27 November to Thursday 28 November and provide a platform for industry leaders, service companies, and academics to share insights and drive innovation. Representatives from Shell, TAQA, bp, Equinor, University of Aberdeen and RGU will be addressing delegates during a series of keynote speeches, presentations and workshops.
Topics will cover a range of critical issues, including improving well productivity, sustainable technology commitments, and the latest advancements in sand control. Students will also be presenting posters during the event.
Dr Gbenga Oluyemi, the Chair of SMN from RGU’s School of Computing, Engineering and Technology, said: “The Euroforum 2024 represents a unique opportunity for professionals in the energy sector to collaborate and enhance their understanding of sand management. The SMN is made up of a large group of operating and service companies from the industry who work together to deal with sand-related issues both onshore and offshore.
The network has been in place for more than 20 years and has twenty member companies, a mix of operator, service companies and universities who work together to deal with sand-related issues both onshore and offshore. Regular events are held to discuss and debate sand related case studies, a chance for the members to network in person and online.
