To mark the opening, Aberdeen City Council co-leaders, Councillors Jenny Laing and Douglas Lumsden, joined the hotel team to officially cut the ribbon on the landmark new venue. The ceremony took place on the same day as The Event Complex Aberdeen opening, which also saw the ribbon cut on the 15,000 capacity P&J Live venue.

The 150-bedroom Aloft Aberdeen TECA is the first design of its kind in the city – and Scotland – and is aimed at the next generation of travellers, offering tech-forward amenities, urban-style interiors and live music.

Its eclectic design features open and vibrant social spaces, including Aloft’s signature WXYZ bar – perfect for sipping spectacular cocktails or grabbing a quick bite to eat in relaxed surroundings.

Guests will also enjoy fast, free wi-fi and access to the hotel’s Re:charge Gym – and those looking to carry out business can do so in the property’s sleek Tactic meeting spaces.

Each bedroom features all the comforts visitors expect, and more – with Aloft’s plush signature platform beds, 49-inch LCD TVs with Chromecast, Bliss® Spa toiletries and walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads.

Aloft even welcomes four-legged friends, with complimentary bed, bowl and doggie bag of delicious treats and toys available for pampered pooches.

Jane Bourque, Hotel Manager at Aloft Aberdeen TECA, said: “Today marks a major milestone for the entire team – we’re delighted to be opening the doors to Scotland’s very first Aloft hotel. And we are thrilled to welcome Councillors Jenny Laing and Douglas Lumsden to mark the occasion with us.

“The brand is well-known for its contemporary, quirky and boutique style which fits perfectly with our location – just a stone’s throw from P&J Live, which will see some of the world’s biggest acts perform live. Gig-goers will love the relaxed vibe, urban interiors and, of course, our selection of perfect pre-concert cocktails.

“While the hotel is ideal for those visiting P&J Live, we’re also perfectly placed for those visiting the city to take in the sights, as well as anyone travelling on business thanks to our handy location just minutes from the airport. We’ve already welcomed our first guests, and look forward to meeting those set to stay with us in future.”

Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader Councillor, Jenny Laing, said: “I am delighted to be here for the opening of the Aloft hotel which is part of the bigger site including the P&J Live venue.

“The site is designed to attract major artists, conferences and events to the region. It will serve the residents of the city as well as attracting delegates and tourists from home and abroad as a central strand of our Regional Economic Strategy and its key aims of increasing diversification, internationalisation and inclusive economic growth.

“We look forward to welcoming Aloft’s visitors to the new venue and the area.”

Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader Councillor Douglas Lumsden said: “It’s exciting to be here at the opening of the Aloft hotel as it is part of a journey for a site for an ambitious project for a new multi-million-pound venue and on-site accommodation.

“The significant investment being made by Aberdeen City Council, both in infrastructure and in culture through our innovative Aberdeen 365 events programme, is changing the city and region’s outlook and there is a real of momentum building.

“The economic impact of P&J Live and the Aloft hotel is part of the major economic benefits for generations to come and the positive impact the development will have cannot be overstated.”

Andrew Robb, Chief Business Development Officer at RBH, said: “The arrival of Aloft in Aberdeen is a real coup for the hotel industry in Scotland and we are proud to be operating the first one in the country. Having looked after Aloft Liverpool for a number of years, we know just how popular the brand is, so we’re in no doubt that visitors to Aberdeen will be very impressed with everything the hotel has to offer.

“The opening of Aloft Aberdeen TECA really cements RBH’s relationship with Marriott as well as signalling the growth of our portfolio in Aberdeen.”
