Silicon Scotland reports that representatives from 22 companies across Scotland’s offshore wind supply chain have presented their technology to a panel of international buyers at a showcase event in Edinburgh organised by Scottish Enterprise. The two-day “22 Innovations” event was designed to boost interest from major developers and tier one suppliers in Scotland’s growing floating offshore wind sector and the wider energy transition.

Scottish Enterprise has used its offshore wind innovation programme to channel more than £1 million into feasibility projects, helping Scottish firms tackle technical and commercial challenges and bring new solutions closer to market. Buyers from key European markets including Germany, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Poland, Spain and Ireland were invited, reflecting the scale of offshore wind build-out now moving ahead across the continent.

The 22 Scottish companies span critical parts of the future offshore wind supply chain, from floating foundation and mooring systems to subsea infrastructure, robotics, inspection technologies, digital tools and low-carbon installation methods. Firms such as Fennex, TTI Marine Renewables, Blackfish Engineering Design, Titan Energies, First Marine Solutions, Reblade, Airspection, Malin Marine Consultants, Quoceant, Frontier Robotics and Encomara showcased innovations developed in Scotland’s coastal and engineering hubs.

For Scottish suppliers, the Edinburgh showcase offered a rare opportunity to pitch directly to influential overseas buyers and explore how their technologies could be deployed on large-scale projects. For international developers, it provided a window into the breadth of capability now available in Scotland, from data-led inspection and optimisation tools through to hardware and marine operations services.

The event underlines Scotland’s ambition to be a key partner in global offshore wind and energy transition projects, with supply-chain companies from across the country — including the North East — positioning themselves for international work. It also highlights Scottish Enterprise’s role in convening buyers and home-grown firms and in using innovation funding to help Scottish companies move promising offshore wind technologies towards commercial deployment.
