On the day The Crown Estate announced Offshore Wind Leasing Round 6, which could deliver a further 6GW of offshore wind capacity off the north-east coast of England, Energy Minister Michael Shanks joined ScottishPower Renewables CEO Charlie Jordan; Jan De Rycker, Smulders Projects UK Director; David Muylaert, CEO Smulders; and Newcastle upon Tyne East and Wallsend MP Mary Glindon to mark the start of a £60M-plus green energy project to build the mammoth steel jacket foundation for ScottishPower’s East Anglia TWO windfarm offshore substation at Smulders yard on the banks of the River Tyne.

The £4 billion windfarm, off the coast of Suffolk, will deliver enough clean energy to power the equivalent of around one million homes when it comes into operation in 2028.
