North-east oil and gas services company, OEM Group, has further bolstered its expertise in the oil and gas and marine industry with the acquisition of Great Yarmouth based, East Coast Diesel Ltd for a six-figure sum.

This is the second acquisition in the last 12 months for the Aberdeen business with its earlier acquisition of services company Uniconn in February of last year.

OEM Group, which offers engine services and spares to the global oil and gas and marine industry, with operations in the Middle-east and Australia, has already built up a strong relationship with the Great Yarmouth company having worked together utilising its testing facility and offshore manpower.

The deal will further strengthen OEM’s position in the diesel engine repair market with the plan to grow its global customer base across Qatar, Azerbaijan, Australia and the UAE whilst increasing business in the UK. The acquisition also sees the group expand its global team of 80 bringing in an expert team of 15 personnel from East Coast Diesel as well as their twin-engine dyno testing facility, further supporting the groups commitment to offer a complete and fully rounded solution to its clients.

Founder and Managing Director, Barry Park, said: “East Coast built up a solid reputation from their 25 years in the market place which brings a wealth of technical knowledge to the OEM Group. Throughout the years of East Coast Diesel, Founders Mick and Sue Carter along with their three sons Lee, Jack and Adam have done a tremendous job building the company and we are delighted to have them join the team at OEM for the next chapter.”
