With 13 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, Ian McGillivray has taken on the key role to drive continued growth both in the north-east and internationally as well as support managing director Mark Robertson with the company’s long-term growth strategy.

MRDS has secured new work scopes to provide inspection, repair and maintenance for several North Sea offshore installations, with work to be carried out at the firm’s Altens base as well as by field service technicians on platform.

In addition, the company has secured its first ever project in the Middle East with a rig reactivation in Sharjah, UAE. MRDS will provide service and maintenance for all drilling equipment, well control equipment and jacking systems.

The business expects to record turnover of £8million for its August 2018 year-end and is forecasting growth to £15million by the end of 2019.

MRDS, which currently employs 35 people, expects to recruit an additional 10 personnel this year to meet increased demand for its services.

Mark Robertson said: “We are extremely pleased to welcome Ian on board and I have no doubt that, with his level of knowledge and track-record to date, he will prove to be a real asset to the business and continue to drive MRDS as leaders in service.”

Ian McGillivray added: “I’m thrilled to have joined such a client-focused service company and look forward to working with the team here to achieve our growth objectives. Our principal targets are to continue to deliver a high quality and reliable service to our North Sea clients as well as expand our service offerings to existing and new clients in international locations.”

Established in 2015, MRDS specialises in the project management, inspection, repair and overhaul of oilfield drilling equipment both onshore and offshore. It supplies oilfield capital equipment and associated spare parts to meet clients’ needs worldwide.

The company has a strong international presence and operates in the Americas, West and North Africa and the United Arab Emirates.
