SensationALL welcomes former charity CEO to Trustee board

Local disability charity, SensationALL, has welcomed Karen Farquhar to their Trustee board.

Ms Farquhar was, for many years, CEO of Befriend a Child, a well-known Aberdeen charity supporting disadvantaged children and young adults in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. In addition to her new Trustee role, she is standing as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Bridge of Don in the upcoming local elections, and is training to become a Humanist celebrant.
SensationALL Trustee, Susan Kay said: “We are delighted to welcome Karen to our Trustee board. She brings vast skills and experience which will be hugely valuable to us as we embark on the next chapter of our development.”
Established in 2012, SensationALL provide therapeutic activities and specialist services for children and adults with disabilities, or ‘multiple support needs’ (MSN). These include family play sessions, preschool communication groups, arts and crafts groups and sensory room facilities. They also provide support, advice and training for families and associated professionals.
Last year, the charity were successful in their application to Aberdeenshire Council for a Community Asset Transfer of the Old School and Schoolhouse in Westhill, which they plan to transform into a state-of-the-art, inclusive facility for MSN families and the wider community.
Ms Farquhar said: “I am excited to be joining an ambitious, growing charity like SensationALL and can’t wait to get stuck in! There is lots of work to do, but I am inspired by what they have achieved to date and look forward to working with the team to realise their vision.”
