A SILICON Valley entrepreneur and investor has been secured as a speaker at an Aberdeen data event.

Chris Neumann, Commonwealth Ventures founder, and chief executive officer will deliver a presentation at DataFest Aberdeen which takes place at Schoolhill’s ONE Hub next Wednesday.

The focus will be on how the Granite City can become a leading data start-up ecosystem by mimicking the entrepreneurial hub of Silicon Valley.

Mr Neumann, said: “Aberdeen has tremendous potential to be a hub for technological advancement, particularly related to the energy industry. A lot can be learned from other oil and gas hubs around the world to create an environment for start-ups to thrive and deliver technology solutions that will drive the energy transition. I’m really looking forward to sharing my thoughts and experience at DataFest.”

Other presentations, at the Scottish Enterprise ‘Beyond Data’ seminar will include SIMEC Atlantis Energy and Aberdeen based Opex Group.

DataFest Aberdeen is part of a wider two-week festival led by The Data Lab taking place across the country from March 9 – 20.
