Aberdeen’s creative community gathered last Friday at Motif Ruin Bar for a Sip N’ Paint Aberdeen event that blended art, music, and social connection. Welcoming over 150 attendees at the sold-out event, the evening encouraged locals to relax, try their hand at painting, and enjoy a lively atmosphere of music and mingling. Aberdeen Business News attended to cover the event firsthand, capturing the spirit of a night focused on creativity and community.
The venue was filled with a mix of seasoned artists and beginners alike, each tasked with creating their own rendition of the iconic Pink Panther. As music played, the crowd engaged with both the artistic process and each other, creating a social experience designed to bring people together. While many took a traditional approach to the painting challenge, others chose a more personalised route, with some even venturing into entirely different concepts, such as a whimsical wizard frog that drew plenty of attention.

Guided by Sip N’ Paint Abz’s team of artists, participants were free to experiment with their canvases in a supportive setting. For many, including those picking up a paintbrush for the first time in years, the event offered an accessible entry point into creative expression. The Sip N’ Paint team, led by Adedeji Ekundayo, aimed to provide a welcoming space where participants could explore their artistic potential without pressure or expectations. “We wanted to foster a space where anyone could express themselves creatively while connecting with others,” Ekundayo shared.
“We’re passionate about connecting with local talent in Aberdeen—whether it’s artists, musicians, or creators. I often meet these talented individuals just by chance, sometimes even on the street, and make a point to appreciate their craft, support their work, and bring them into our community.”
“I pay attention to details, and I can spot something unique when I see it. We’re also fortunate to collaborate with local brands like Motif and Dough & Co., which supplied doughnuts for the night. It’s all about supporting each other and building something meaningful together”
The event highlighted Sip N’ Paint Aberdeen’s growing popularity in the city’s cultural landscape, drawing a crowd that appreciated both the opportunity to unwind and the chance to form new connections. Music and art combined to set a lively tone throughout the evening, giving participants a night out that was both social and creative.
When asked about challenges, Adedeji told Aberdeen Business News “One of our biggest challenges has been finding the right venue. It actually took us a full year to secure a space that fit the vibe we wanted. I remember going out constantly, checking venue after venue, and even some friends suggested places that just didn’t feel right for the event. We’d reach out to owners, and send emails, but sometimes it’s tough to collaborate with local businesses here. That said, we’ve also been fortunate to work with some incredible people, and we really hope to see more openness and support for creative initiatives in Aberdeen.”
As attendees departed, they took with them both their completed paintings and a shared experience rooted in Aberdeen’s community spirit. With another successful event concluded Sip N’ Paint Aberdeen is expected to continue shaping the city’s creative community, bringing residents together through its blend of art, music, and inclusivity.
