An Aberdeen audiologists has shown their support for Cycling Without Age this autumn, with a significant donation and a commitment to fundraise further over the winter months.

Specsavers Aberdeen Audiology business, located at 56-58 Union Street, are donating a generous £1,000 to the Aberdeen branch of Cycling Without Age.

Cycling Without Age (CWA) are a Copenhagen-founded global charity, focused on reducing isolation and improving quality of life for older people and others with limited mobility by giving them free, volunteer-piloted rides in specially designed ‘Trishaws’, bikes specially designed by the organisation to help them achieve their goal.

The audiology team chose Cycling Without Age as they felt the charity aligns with the goal of the audiology team; to break down barriers which may limit a person’s quality of life, no matter their age.

Ian McLellan, audiology director at Specsavers Aberdeen, says: ‘We’re delighted to have the opportunity to support such a worthwhile cause, one which is close to our hearts and core values as a team.

‘We know through hearing issues that isolation can have a huge impact on us all. We’re inspired by the efforts of Cycling Without Age in getting people out and about, socialising and stimulated, no matter their level of mobility.’

The team is committed to further fundraising for the charity, with the hope that the money raised over the winter months will be used to kickstart the charity’s efforts next year.

Ian continued: ‘We’re dedicated to fundraising over the winter to assist CWA with their mission of helping those in our community. We aim to fundraise the cost of a Trishaw, and the team is very much motivated to reach that target.’
